After Good Friday service, a few of us went to eat. Then Allen, Frank, and I went to go bowling at Classic Bowl in Daly City.

I drove the 3 of us, and it was really foggy and damp. I drove at about 20 miles per hour, and made the left turn from Skyline Blvd onto King Drive. Suddenly, I saw the car in front of me swerve to the right. The next instant a small van, which was facing us, drove into my lane and crashed into us head on at about 30 mph.

My Accord's alarm went off, the airbags popped up, and the next thing I saw was the van driver yelling at me as if it was my fault. I didn't hear what he was saying because of the alarm, but then he just drove off, never to be seen again. A hit and run.

And it happened so fast that we didn't get a good description of the person or vehicle.

Fortunately, the 3 of us were OK physically. We'll probably be sore tomorrow, but thank God we didn't suffer any injuries. This incident could've been much worse, so praise God that we all came away OK.

And thanks to Allen, Frank, Ryan, Zheng, and Angela, for helping me out in a time of need. I was rattled a bit after the accident happened, and their presence was definitely appreciated.

In the end, the damage to my Accord was pretty extensive, and engine fluids were oozing out of my car.

It looks like I'll be getting a new car, so I'll definitely take suggestions on what to get. I'll be looking for something that's safe, reliable, and gets good gas mileage...

crazy... glad you guys are okay. you should get a Prius 50 miles per gallon... so sweet when the gas prices are going up and not to mention tax break you get at the end of the year...

o man~ sorry to hear about your accident =( It was pretty scary how foggy it was that night...but i can't believe that driver just took off!
Glad you are all ok~

DO NOT trade in your man-marbles for a prius! You're not married and considering how much of a sports fan you are, you're still a man. I have no idea why Gower is pretending to be Mejeld and suggesting you get a Pri... iu.. I can't even say it. If you do, I'll fill your tank with sugar and le-MAN-ade that's 0 mpg.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Mon Apr 09, 04:05:00 PM

the prius is an economical option but i agree with chongo..don't trade in the ghongs just yet. you should get a black toyota camry and then you and chongo can race. looks like a bad accident...hope you guys are ok.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Mon Apr 09, 06:34:00 PM

chongow, don't be hating on our PRIUS cause I am SAVING at least $20~30 everytime I go fill up. (that's extra caish you can spend on whatever you want!) Just face it... hybrid is the way of the future and trust me, I know it doesn't look MANLY (I was initially against it as well), but forget image shimage... because your pocket will love it. Supposedly gas price is gonna go near $4 per gallon.... camry hybrid is a nice option but really expensive, so at that point, I rather buy something else...anyways

one more... i actually looked forward to doing taxes because we bought Prius last year... hahaha. Anyways, full tax break is gone now because the quota is up, but I think you can get full tax credit with other hybrid cars...

chongo, btw, I saw you in LA once... I was making a left turn from 3rd onto Larchmont and I saw you waiting for the signal... haha small world

Hey Tommy!
wow, I had no idea the accident was that bad. I'm so glad all three of you came alright. dealing with a car accident alone is frustrating and almost traumatizing, but I can't believe the guy ran off like that...what a little seki! anyhoo, i think you should get a volvo s80 (?)...those commercials look tight!! :p

Mejeld... I hate to admit it, but you're absolutely right. Your rebuttal based on fiscal conservatism and unabashed jovial anticipation for doing your taxes has utterly convinced me. I am a wiser man. I will soon trade in my car for a more economic alternative, giggle like Double-D at Napa as I do my taxes, buy unhappy people pinkberry with the money I save and skip down Larchmont pumping my fist and yelling "I want my MPG!!!". What a fool I have been.

tommy oppa. it's ghetto oppa. sorry to hear about the accident dude. i've been a few meself, and it's no fun. insurance companys, police reports bleh.

i say go w/the new camry. it's winning a lot of awards. http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/do/vdp/articleId=117036/pageNumber=1?synpartner=edmunds&pageurl=www.edmunds.com/new/2007/toyota/camry/100699458/roadtestarticle.html&articleId=117036

pruis is pretty expensive. you do save some gas $$, but the tax break is gone & the carpool lane quota is full (no more carpool).

also, hyrids are more expensive to repairs. the batterys die after a while, and it's like a 1,000 to replace them. that's a cost you don't get w/regular car.

final note, check insurance rates on these cars. i think pruis's get jacked a fair bit & have insane resale, so their rates are prety high.

if it was me, i would even consider something used. 2 - 3 years old & someone else eats all the depreciation.

ghetto oppa

hahaha that's right I want my MPG!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Wed Apr 11, 09:01:00 AM

so glad you're all ok! as for the prius, i'm glad we've made chongo a believer. we aim to convert as many as we can. while it's true that the incentives are no longer avaiable, the 2007 prius has a better battery. for the most part, i can't imagine having many problems with the car. the technology is awesome.
