My co-worker showed me this link of traffic in India.

And you thought traffic in LA was bad...

this whole video is fast forwarded. You can tell by the pedestrians and how they seem to be walking at a quickened pace, so though it's still crazy, it's definitely not as fast as it shows to be.

To me, that just PROVES that the left turn arrow, (or in India, the right turn arrow) is overrated.

People keep talking about how the City of LA doesn't have enough left turn arrows in its intersections.

In my humble opinion, if you can't make an unprotected left (or unprotected right), then you shouldn't be having a driver's license.

If a city has too many left or right turn arrows (good example: Irvine), it slows down the flow of traffic because people have to wait longer at each red light.

Traffic in LA still moves at a tolerable pace. Why? The lack of arrows means that each red light is quicker. Less waiting.

Also, I like the "moving screen" technique that is used by the inner right turn lane traffic. =)
