During my surgery today, it was determined that I had a torn labrum. (The cartilage in my shoulder joint was torn.) The surgery took 2.5 hours, and they were able to repair the tear.
Afterwards, I was feeling pretty nauseous from the anesthesia, and wanted to hurl. This is fairly common, and the nurse gave me the option to soothe the nausea with a suppository. I didn’t want it initially, considering how it's administered. (It's not taken orally or with a shot, so you can probably guess how it is taken...) But after a few minutes, I changed my mind and asked the nurse to apply it for me. (Just another new experience, I suppose...) And now with the help of the suppository, some Vicodin, and my mom (who surprised me by showing up at my surgery), I have almost no pain right now... 7 Comments:
surprisingly...your injury sounded so familiar, so I found out that in 2004, Mark Ellis had a torn labrum after a collision with Bobby Crosby. So I guess that's where i knew it was a baseball injury. I think you get the tetnus... tetanus... tetinus... tetinas... whatever. That shot. In your bottom, too. I had a really sore butt that day. It didn't feel good. Anyway, that's a crazy way to get rid of nausea. And your mom is awfully nice. Peace out. Hope you're feeling better and enjoying AD. By basile with an e, at Thu Feb 09, 02:37:00 PM to clarify, a suppository isn't a shot on your butt. it's actually a "small plug of medication" that melts when applied up the rectum... By Tommy, at Thu Feb 09, 03:07:00 PM so you had some warm liquid flow up your rectum??? By Stephen, at Thu Feb 09, 04:38:00 PM well, you don't have to say it like THAT...
